Adult Brain Cancer; South Australian Brain Tumor support Group

Adult Brain Cancer was initiated in September 2006, following advertised expressions of interested South Australians by Cancer Council Sth. Australia, to form a local support group for cancer patients, their families, carers, and health professionals.
CCSA identified there was an urgent need to fill a gap in relation to support and information available for patients, families and caerers.A steering committee was formed, meeting regularly to discuss planning of meetings and events, with finally becoming incorporated, with its first AGM in August 2008 with election of a committee of 8.
Adult Brain Cancer has now established contact with other Cancer amd Brain Tumor support Groups in other States, and including International Brain Tumor Alliance "Brain Tumor Week" festivities, held each year in first week of November.
Coffee mornings are held last Saturday of month at Adelaide's Southwest Community Centre, 171 Sturt St. 10am to 12noon, as well as organising information sessions 2-3 times per year. Funds for the Group are raised through a credit union community lottery along with other fundraising actities.
The goal of ABCsa is to be a resource for patients, families, carers and health professionals, providing information regarding brain tumors, community resources, telephone support and opportunities for socialising and meeting with other brain cancer patients, families and carer givers.
